Mohammedan Sporting Club has appealed for remission of the three-match suspension imposed on its cricket team’s captain Shakib al Hasan.
Shakib was slammed with a three-match suspension and fined Taka five lakhs after the ace all-rounder was found guilty of breaching the BCB code of conduct twice during Mohammedan’s game against Abahani Limited at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday.
Mohammedan following the Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] and Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis’ [CCDM] sanction against Shakib on Saturday, appealed to the authorities to lift the punishment.
“Shakib Al Hasan, the Mohammedan captain, is repentant for his act. Mohammedan Sporting Club, too, is very embarrassed and sorry for the incident. We request the disciplinary committee of the BCB to lift the three-match suspension, upholding the financial penalty. If Shakib repeats this behavior in the ongoing tournament, the suspended sentence will be upheld,” Mohammedan wrote to BCB president Nazmul Hasan.
Member secretary of the CCDM Ali Hossain confirmed the media about the BCB having received the letter from Mohammedan. The CCDM however cannot take a decision as the letter has been written addressing the president of the board.

Shakib’s row of incidents started with kicking the wickets after umpire Imran Parvez had turned down his leg before appeal against Mushfiqur Rahim. An over later when rain started pouring in and the umpires decided to bring on the covers; Shakib lost his temper again and pulled off all three stumps and lashed them in front of the umpire.
Shakib was also found having altercation with Abahani dugout while he was walking out off the field. Abahani coach Khaled Mahmud was seen rushing towards Shakib but the exchange between them was unclear.
