The finale was full of humor and contained inside stories from the Bangladesh cricket team and before leaving the four senior cricketers requested the supporters to not divide their support.
The 12-episode long Tamim Iqbal live series dropped its curtains on Saturday with a message to the passionate supporters of Bangladesh cricket. Host of the show Tamim was joined with three Bangladesh national cricket stalwarts Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah for the episode that streamed for almost 100 minutes. The finale was full of humor and contained inside stories from the Bangladesh cricket team and before leaving the four senior cricketers requested the supporters to not divide their support.
"You will find separate fan bases of every cricketer – like Tamimian, Mashrafian, Mushfiqian etc. We understand that the supporters will have their one favorite player but what I feel now that these groups [fan bases] are often fighting with each other and attacking players at times,” said Tamim.
“I will request everyone to not do these attacks. You see we all play for one team that is Bangladesh. So it is not right that Tamim fans will abuse Mushfiq fans and that Mushfiq fans will abuse Tamim fans,” Bangladesh ODI captain added.
Former Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe thanked Tamim for raising the topic and echoed similar sentiments.
“There have been many times when I also felt like speaking about this issue. I think we are doing harm to ourselves. We play for Bangladesh and for you [supporters]. If you want to criticize or abuse, do that to the whole team but do not target a particular player. Cricket is a gentleman’s game and the supporters also need to be gentle. The supporters have always been there with us and now if we can take care of this, I think we will be able to reach greater heights in world cricket,” said Mashrafe.
Middle-order batsman Mahmudullah and Mushfiq also made their statements against this particular behavior of the supporters before Tamim closed the show.
Bangladesh batsman Tamim had started the series of live sessions with his long-time teammate Mushfiq on May 2 before hosting Mahmudullah and former ODI captain Mashrafe.
The following episodes featured Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, former skippers Naimur Rahman, Habibul Bashar and Khaled Mahmud and, most recently among teammates, Mominul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das and Taijul Islam.
One of the episodes featured three more captains Akram Khan, Minhajul Abedin and Khaled Mashud along with Pakistan fast bowling legend Wasim Akram as special guest.
On May 13, Tamim hosted his first foreign guest in the form of former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis, and followed it up with Indian batting giants Rohit Sharma on May 15 and Virat Kohli on May 18. He also hosted New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson on May
