Bangladesh will be looking to continue the dominance they have shown in the lone Test and ODI series against Zimbabwe when they face the African nation in the first of two T20Is at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Monday.

The Tigers won the Test match by an innings and 106 runs before sweeping the ODI series 3-0. Although the ODI series result seems one-sided, Zimbabwe came within one shot of winning a high-scoring thriller in the second match.

Bangladesh T20I captain Mahmudullah is confident due to the good form his players have shown, but is also cautious as Zimbabwe are more competitive in the shortest format.

“Whoever the opponent is, every international match is challenging. We played good cricket in the Test and ODI series, but Zimbabwe is still a very competitive side in T20 cricket. They have a good batting line-up. We have to play good cricket in the T20I series as well and our mindset has to be positive. We are not taking them lightly as an opponent,” Mahmudullah said during the pre-match press conference at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium Sunday.

Zimbabwe captain Sean Williams is confident his side can put up a good fight and win the series, as a single moment of brilliance can shift the momentum in T20 cricket.

“I think we can win, 100%. Two balls can change the game in T20s. If we get Tamim out, anything can happen. It takes one little moment of brilliance and things can change. We have a young team who are excited to play the shorter format in Mirpur,” the Zimbabwe captain said during the pre-match press conference.
