Bangladesh T20I skipper Mahmudulah has said he is not worried about opener Tamim Iqbal’s strike rate in T20Is, as the left hander is in good form and the leading run scorer in the shortest format for the Tigers.

Tamim scored 65 and 39 in his last two T20Is, against Pakistan last month, with a strike rate of 122.64 and 114.70, respectively. Bangladesh scored 141 and 136 in the matches, losing both.

The experienced opener is the leading run scorer for Bangladesh in T20Is with 1,717 runs in 77 innings at a strike rate of 116.80. He is the only centurion for Bangladesh in the format.

“Maybe there were questions about Tamim’s strike rate in T20Is recently, but I believe Tamim can score a hundred if he can bat like himself in this T20I series. I am not worried about this issue at all. Tamim is batting really well now, and he is the highest run scorer in T20Is for Bangladesh. He has not been given any particular instruction about how to bat out there. However Tamim bats in the match after assessing the pitch and situation, I think that will be good enough for us,” Mahmudullah told the media during the pre-match press conference at Mirpur Sunday.

Tamim was in brilliant form in the recent ODI series against Zimbabwe, scoring back to back hundreds in second and third ODIs. He scored 128 not out in the third match after scoring 158 in the second.
