Bangladesh pace all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin is likely to lose his spot from the Bangladesh squad for the tour of India. A long sustaining back injury has weaved all possibilities for the right-arm all-rounder to miss the series in November.

Saifuddin was name in the Bangladesh squad for the three-match T20I series against hosts India. However, Saifuddin’s slow rate of recovery from the injury has put the national think-tank to look for a possible replacement.

“I don't think he will be able to play [against India in the T20 series]. We will talk with Julian [physio] tomorrow [Monday] to take a final decision, but what I understand is that, it won't be possible for him to take part in the T20 series,” said BCB's chief of the national selection panel Minhajul Abedin to a cricket website Cricbuzz on Sunday.

The same injury had troubled Saifuddin during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 but he had managed the tournament with the aid of pain-killers. Later, he was included in Bangladesh’s tour of Sri Lanka for three-game ODI series in July but only to be removed in the last moment.

Saifuddin returned with the TriNation T20I series at home in September but only to miss out the final, having played the four league matches since the injury resurfaced. Currently, the board is looking at the option of sending Saifuddin to England for biomechanical tests.
