Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan has said if found guilty, none will be spared, and that stern action will be taken after board director and Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited director in-charge Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan was arrested Wednesday night.
Lokman was arrested for illegal money transaction, three days after the law enforcement agencies raided the Mohammedan club premises and sealed off its illegal casino business.
Rapid Action Battalion also filed a case against him under the Narcotics Control Act for keeping illegal foreign liquor in his home without any permit.
“See, this is nothing to be embarrassed about. What I understand is, if someone does anything wrong, he must face punishment. There is no question of any disagreement here. I know this much, the steps the honorable Prime Minister has taken, there is no reason not to appreciate the effort. Because only she is capable of taking such a brave step, no one else is capable of taking such step. This is not a matter of today, it has been happening for a long time,” BCB boss Nazmul told the media at his residence in Gulshan Friday.
Once a domestic powerhouse Mohammedan den used to be crowded with budding and star footballers and its dedicated fans and organizers but in the last few years it became filled with gamblers and corrupted officials than the actual stakeholders of the clubhttps://t.co/sUtLIebEq1— Dhaka Tribune Sports (@Sport_DT) September 26, 2019
“If it’s proven that Lokman has rented the premises for casino, then he will be brought to justice. There is nothing more to add. Those who are connected, only they will be brought to justice. We hope justice would be fair, and the actual criminals are caught,” he added.
BCB supremo Nazmul continued, “The board will take a decision if the allegations are proven. It’s too early to say anything, the basic thing is, if one does anything wrong, he will be punished. There’s no scope for leniency. I won’t be lenient at BCB, I’ve never been this way in BCB.”
