Bangladesh’s newly found leg-spinner Aminul Islam Biplob is uncertain to play in the final of the Tri-nation T20I series against Afghanistan at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium Tuesday.

The 19-year-old Aminul got a wildcard entry in the international arena for Bangladesh after being elected in the squad for the third and fourth T20I of the series. Aminul made his debut playing against Zimbabwe to finish with two wickets for 18 runs and had become talk of the country overnight.

However fate has been harsh to the young leg-spinner as he was struck by the ball on his left hand in the game to receive stitches and remain benched in the following.

According to Bangladesh coach Russell Domingo the injury has not recovered yet to make Aminul an easy selection for the title decider against Afghanistan.

“It is tough one [include Aminul] because he has got two three stitches in his left hand. It is not his bowling hand but as coach I am always reluctant to go in a game with a guy who has got some sort of injury,” said Domingo to the media at SBNS on Monday.

“It can be that he [Aminul] has to take an important catch at a crucial stage or that he has bowled his first over and the stitches split again. Those are the concerns I do have. I always like to play with players at 100 percent and I feel we have enough options to replace any player. I cannot see him playing with stitches in his hands,” the Bangladesh coach added.

Aminul came into the Bangladesh national pipeline as a top batsman in Bangladesh u19 but was highlighted as a leg-spinner in the BCB High Performance team. Aminul’s leg-spin in the HP team practice sessions had caught attention of the team management and eventually by the national selectors to get him to the national dressing room.
