Soumya’s return to form is always pleasing for Bangladesh, and the Tigers have been posting 50-plus partnerships in the recent ODIs quite regularly

One of the biggest positive signs for the Bangladesh team in recent times has been their opening batsman Soumya Sarkar’s impressive form.

The left-hander was out of the squad even as recently as six months ago.

But after getting the chance against Zimbabwe, the southpaw never looked back and scored plenty of runs.

Soumya finished his Dhaka Premier League season with Abahani Limited in a bang as he smashed a century and double century in the 50-over format.

Soumya’s return to form is always pleasing for Bangladesh, and the Tigers have been posting 50-plus partnerships in the recent ODIs quite regularly.

Soumya formed a 60-run opening wicket partnership with Tamim Iqbal against South Africa at the Oval Sunday.

And the important part was, those 60 runs came within 8.1 overs.

And credit goes to Soumya because among those 60, he contributed 35 off just 21 deliveries.

Just the way Bangladesh expected, and just the way the Tigers camp expected from the on-song Soumya.
