Liton makes good use of opportunity

Liton Das used his opportunity well as he scored 73 off 90 deliveries with 10 boundaries while chasing 360

Update : 29 May 2019, 12:17 AM

Opener Liton Kumar Das grabbed his chance with both hands after getting the opportunity to open the innings for Bangladesh against India.

Souyma Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal have been the first choice openers for the Tigers in recent times as both of them played in the opening slot in the recently concluded tri-nation ODI series.

Liton got one chance in that series when Soumya was given rest and the former scored an impressive 76 off 67 deliveries while chasing 293 against Ireland in that match.

During Tuesday's warm-up game against India, Tamim was given rest as the left-hander is suffering from a slight injury scare from Monday’s practice session.

Bangladesh did not take a risk with Tamim for the warm-up game against India and thus, Liton got the chance to open the innings.

And the right-hander used his opportunity well as he scored 73 off 90 deliveries with 10 boundaries while chasing 360.

Liton’s good run of form as a back-up opener is a positive sign for the Bangladesh camp ahead of the long and hectic World Cup.
