Two missed chances, and Paul Stirling formed Ireland’s highest ODI partnership (174) for the third wicket with captain William Porterfield
Ireland opener Paul Stirling was dropped twice in back-to-back deliveries and the right-hander made good use of his double life in the end with the eighth ODI century of his career.
Stirling eventually scored 130 off 141 balls.
The first chance was grassed in the last ball of the 21st over.
It was a lofted drive from the Irish opening batsman against Bangladesh spinner Mosaddek Hossain, and the ball went up in the air towards long off.
@Irelandcricket have made a decent start with Paul Stirling set on the crease with William Porterfield after losing James McCollum early in their innings. https://t.co/NKTJHEptX6#IRELAND #CRICKET #IRELANDCRICKET #CI #PORTERFIELD #WILLIAM #PAUL #STIRLING #PAULSTIRLING #BCBTIGERS

Sabbir Rahman was stationed in that region and he charged in front to take the catch only to drop it while trying to take it with a dive.
Sabbir was perhaps fraction of a second late to react, and Stirling survived.
In the very next over, Stirling got lucky once again as this time, Saifuddin dropped his catch while Shakib al Hasan was bowling.
Two missed chances, and Stirling formed Ireland’s highest ODI partnership (174) for the third wicket with captain William Porterfield.
