Thursday, Uttara registered their second win in the phase as they defeated BKSP by one wicket in a nail-biter in Fatullah’s Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium

Uttara Sporting Club ensured two wins in as many games to complete their job in the relegation league of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League season 2019.

Thursday, Uttara registered their second win in the phase as they defeated BKSP by one wicket in a nail-biter in Fatullah’s Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium.

Chasing 145, Uttara were in a spot of bother having lost nine wickets with 121 runs on the board.

Tail-enders Abdul Gaffar and Sajjad Hossain though ensured of not giving away the final wicket.

The duo added unbroken 26 runs for the last wicket stand and took Uttara home.

With the win, Uttara now have four wins in 13 matches, followed by Brothers Union with three wins in 13 games.

Brothers will take on BKSP in the last relegation league game.

A win for Brothers will take them level on points with Uttara in the standing but the former have a superior net run rate at the moment.

Thus, in order to avoid relegation, Brothers will need to ensure a win by a big margin against BKSP.

Whereas for BKSP, boasting two wins in 12 matches, even a win against Brothers will not be enough to avoid themselves from getting relegated to the Dhaka First Division Cricket League.

Batting first, BKSP were in all sorts of trouble as Uttara’s right-arm pacer Abdur Rashid registered his maiden List A five-wicket haul to restrict the former to 144 with two balls to spare.

Middle-order batsman Aminul Islam scored 59, highest in BKSP’s innings.

In pursuit of the target, overseas recruit Manan Sharma added 52 to the tally but fall of wickets in quick succession had Uttara in trouble.

Gaffar remained unbeaten on 21 while Sajjad added nine not out to help Uttara to victory.

Right-arm medium-pacer Tanzim Ahmed Sakib picked up four wickets for BKSP.
