The BCB has decided to officially inform all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan about the national camp that is set to start at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from April 22. According to the BCB president Nazmul Hasan, a letter will be served to the cricketer in order to understand his thoughts on joining the camp.

Shakib is currently with his Indian Premier League T20 side Sunrisers Hyderabad. The left-arm spin all-rounder has played only one game, the opening game of the season on March 24 against Kolkata Knight Riders, out of the seven Sunrisers’ matches till date.

It is understood that the BCB is in opinion for Shakib to return and practice with the national team before the side leaves for the tri-series in Ireland at the end of this month followed by the ICC Cricket World Cup in England in May-July. According to sources, the opinion has been driven from the fact that Shakib is not getting to play enough in the IPL 2019.

“I have told to send a letter to Shakib mentioning that the national camp will start on April 22. The letter will be sent immediately and we will see his response. There has been no discussion with him if he will join the camp or not so I thought he needs to be informed so that he may join,” said Nazmul to the media at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday.

According to the BCB boss, the national selection panel is likely to declare Bangladesh squad for the series in Ireland and World Cup in a day or two.

The Bangladesh squad before leaving Dhaka will have a fitness and skill development camp for around a week at Mirpur.

However, the question was raised in the cricketing fraternity regarding the letter and NOC that was given by BCB to Shakib for taking part in the IPL. The NOC is supposed to fix a date for Shakib, a player under BCB’s auspices, for returning to national duties.
