Bangladesh all-rounder Saifuddin has lent his support for the justice of Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

The nation is currently witnessing overwhelming protests in demand of justice following the death of Nusrat, a madrasa student, who lost her battle for life Wednesday night, five days after she was set ablaze at a madrasa in Feni.

Hailing from Feni, Saifuddin protested against the heinous crime, and demanded punishment of the culprits.

“Feni is a peaceful place. It saddens me a lot when such incidents take place. It is not always possible for the government alone to prevent such things. So, I will say, if we, the people of Feni, press our protests from our respective places, such horrific incidents shall never take place in future. I demand exemplary punishment of whoever the offender is. We should bring him under the law and set him an exemplary punishment,” said Saifuddin to the media Friday.

Nusrat had sustained severe burn injuries last Saturday after she was set ablaze reportedly by supporters of the madrasa principal.

The victim's brother Monday filed a case with the Sonagazi police station, accusing several people, including four burqa-clad individuals, of setting Nusrat on fire on the madrasa's rooftop.

Until now, police have arrested 10 people in connection with the murder, including main accused Mohammad Sirajuddaula, and his student Nuruddin.

Earlier on March 27, the victim's family had lodged a sexual harassment case with the same police station against the madrasa principal, accusing him of attempting to molest Nusrat in his office.
