Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity won by 12 runs against Brothers Union at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah

All the three matches of the Dhaka Premier League were affected by downpour Monday as the results were decided by the Duckworth/Lewis method.

Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity won by 12 runs against Brothers Union at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.

Khelaghar will heave a sigh of relief as they side managed their third win of the season in a rain-affected encounter against Brothers, thus minimizing their chance of getting relegated.

Khelaghar’s victory took away the limelight off Fazle Mahmud, who had scored a hundred to boost Brothers’ total.

Chasing 268, Khelaghar were batting on 84 for one in 20 overs when rain poured in, and interrupted the game.

With no chance of resuming the game, the match official declared Khelaghar winner as the par score for the side was 72 after 20 overs.

The win came as a relief to the Tejgaon-based club as they rose to ninth position in the standing with a group phase game in hand.

Khelaghar’s last game of the season is against a better-looking Shinepukur who are eighth with four wins in 10 matches.

Khelaghar must now win and bank on a BKSP defeat in order to stave off relegation.

Losing the toss, Brothers were sent to bat first and a top effort saw Fazle produce 103 off 116 deliveries with seven fours and two sixes.

The in-form Yasir Ali was unbeaten on 47 as Brothers registered a defendable total but Khelaghar had the last laugh.

ROUND 10

Khelaghar 84/1 in 20 overs (Robi 39*, Komol 21) beat Brothers 267/6 (Fazle 103, Mizanur 49) by 12 runs (D/L method)
