Chand, Shadman hand Shinepukur commanding win

Shinepukur Cricket Club defeated Brothers Union by eight wickets in accordance with the Duckworth-Lewis method at BKSP in Savar on Wednesday.

After being put in to bat, Brothers had their innings curtailed by rain to 40 overs as they posted 197/5.

Opener Junaid Siddique top-scored with 74 from 86 balls in an innings that had five boundaries and one maximum.

Another solid contributor to the total was Indian recruit Chirag Jani who scored 54 from 76 balls.

The bowling from Shinepukur was tidy with Shariful Islam and Shuvagata Hom being among the wickets with each taking two.

Openers Shadman Islam and Sabbir Hossain formed a 61-run opening partnership before Sabbir got out scoring 30.

But in came India’s Unmukt Chand and the former U-19 team captain took the score to 136/2 in 35.4 overs before Shadman was dismissed by Jani for a quickfire 77 off 69 balls.

From there Chand and Towhid Hridoy (33 not out) took the team home with 26 balls in hand, sealing the win with ease.

Chand became man-of-the-match for his batting, where he scored 90 runs from 83 balls in an innings that had nine fours and two sixes.
