The third Test begins Saturday at Hagley Oval in Christchurch
Ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has been ruled out of the third and final Test match against New Zealand.
The Tigers, nearing the end of their 40-day long tour of New Zealand, are currently playing the second and penultimate Test against the host nation at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, sensing a possible defeat.
On the other hand, wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has recovered well after suffering from three different injuries.
However, a decision on his availability can only be ascertained just ahead of the third Test.
The third Test begins Saturday at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
BCB’s chairman of cricket operations committee, Akram Khan informed that Shakib will not get fit before March 20 and will thus miss the Christchurch Test.
“As per medical reports, he will not be able to recover before March 20 and can only start training after that. We will assess the progress then but at this point he has no chance of being part of the team for the third Test against New Zealand,” said Akram to the media at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Monday.
Shakib sustained an injury on his left ring finger during the final of the BPL T20 2019 and was later ruled out from the tour of New Zealand.
Mushfiq had been nursing a sprained rib, before picking up a side strain and a wrist injury during the tour.
The injury on the wrist however, was of chief concern and had subsequently ruled him out of action.
