The Premier T20 League, comprising the 12 Dhaka Premier League teams, will get underway on February 25, informed Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis chairman Kazi Inam Ahmed during a press conference at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka Monday.

The 12 sides have been divided into four groups with only the group champions progressing to the semi-finals.

The final, a day-night affair, will be held on March 3 at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket League, following which the premier 50-over competition of the country, the DPL, will begin on March 8.

Kazi Inam said, “Two years ago, we talked about starting this T20 League with players from the DPL. Keeping that in mind, we have organised a T20 tournament, prior to the start of the DPL. We will try to hold it every year.”

Kazi Inam said this following the players’ draft of the DPL where CCDM vice president Masud, member secretary Ali Hossain and in-charge Towhid Mahmud were present among others.
