Rubel Hossain and Shakib al Hasan picked up two wickets apiece for Dynamites

Dhaka Dynamites got a comprehensive six-wicket victory in the last group match of the Bangladesh Premier League sixth edition against Khulna Titans on Saturday.

Dynamites restricted Titans for 123-9 in 20 overs before reaching 124-4 in 14.5 overs to win the match at Sher-e-Bangla National stadium and qualify for the eliminator of the tournament.

After winning the toss Titans could never went on as they lose wickets in regular intervals. David Wiese scored highest 30 batting at number eight to help his side get past 100-run mark.

Rubel Hossain and Shakib al Hasan picked up two wickets apiece for Dynamites.

In reply, Dynamites got off to a flyer as Upul Tharanga and Sunil Narine made a 43-run opening stand in just 2.4 overs before the latter got out for 35.

Dynamites lost Shakib and Mizanur Rahman for one and zero respectively but man of the match Tharanga went on to score 42 and wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hasan remained not out for 23 to harbor them home.

Mahmudullah picked up two wickets for Titans.

Wiese scores some runs in the late stage

It was yet another disappointing batting performance for Khulna Titan as they lost key wickets early in the innings and scored a mediocre total in the end. Wiese scored some useful runs in the later stage of the innings throughout the tournament and yet again the South Africa all-rounder scored some runs at the late stage. Wiese scored 30 off 27 balls with one four and one six, which helped Khulna to past 120 runs on the board and gave something to defend. Wiese has scored 189 runs in nine innings this season with a strike rate of 141.04.

Narine’s blazing start for Dhaka

Dhaka opener Sunil Narine has been struggling with the bat in recent times and could not able to produce an explosive start for the Dynamites in this season. But against Titans, Narine was in destructive mood and gave Dhaka a perfect start while chasing 124. Narine scored 34 off just 13 deliveries with two fours and four sixes with a strike rate of 269.23.

 BPL standings

A crucial win against Khulna means Dhaka now have finished the group stage as fourth team and will play the eliminator against Chittagong Vikings (third in points table) on Monday in day game. Rajshahi Kings and Dhaka both have same points, 12, but Dhaka progressed due to better run rate (+0.974) than Rajshahi (-0.518)
