Dhaka Dynamites have 10 points from as many games and need to win at least one or two more matches to qualify

Dhaka Dynamites suffered their fourth loss in a row as they were defeated by Chittagong Vikings by 11 runs in their BPL 6 match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Wednesday.

Chasing 175 to win, Dhaka managed to score 163 in their stipulated 20 overs losing nine wickets.

Dhaka skipper Shakib al Hasan was the top-scorer for his side with 53 off 42 balls and Andre Russell scored 39 off 23 balls.

Besides that, Nurul Hasan scored 33 but no other batsman managed to contribute during the chase and eventually Dhaka fell short.

Chittagong’s Cameron Delport was adjudged man-of-the-match.

Earlier, Chittagong scored 174 riding on opener Delport’s 71 and captain Mushfiqur Rahim’s 43.

Dhaka pacer Russell picked up a hat-trick in the first three balls of the 20th over.

Mushfiq’s cameo at the middle

Mushfiq batted beautifully in the middle stages and helped the Vikings to a good total on the board.

Mushfiq has been in good form throughout the tournament and that confidence showed against Dhaka as well.

The right-hander scored 43 off 24 balls with four fours and two sixes.

It was a useful innings for the Vikings.

Russell hat-trick

Russell has become the third bowler to pick up a hat-trick in BPL 6.

He achieved the feat in the last over of the innings.

He got the wickets of Mushfiqur Rahim, Cameron Delport and Dasun Shanaka in the first three balls of the 20th over.

This is the third hat-trick for Russell in his career.

Impressive first spell by Rahi

Abu Jayed Rahi has been on song with the ball for the Vikings with his swing bowling.

The right-armer bowled a good spell at the top to give his side a good start.

Rahi bagged two important wickets - Sunil Narine and the in-form Rony Talukdar in his first spell of two overs.

The two wicket-taking deliveries were too good for the batsmen as Narine was caught behind by an outswinger and Rony was adjudged lbw against an inswinging delivery.

Pollard run out first ball

Dhaka were under pressure while chasing as their top-order did not click.

The situation only got worse for them when Kieron Pollard was run out in his first ball, scoring a duck.

It was a mix-up between Pollard and Shakib in the fifth ball of the 10th over.

Prior to that, Dhaka were getting back in track with a good partnership from Shakib and Nurul Hasan Sohan for the fourth wicket.

But just after Sohan (in 9.4 overs) got out, the run out of Pollard was a massive blow for Dhaka and it affected their chase.

Russell gets life on no ball

Russell was the key for Dhaka in order to chase down the target and the Windies all-rounder started aggressively as he scored 22 runs off his first 12 balls.

Then Russell got played-on by the Vikings medium pacer Delport.

But TV replays showed Delport had slightly overstepped and instead it was called a no-ball.

It was a crucial moment in the match.

Russell scored 17 runs in his next nine balls but eventually could not capitalise on the chance.

He was caught while trying to hit a six over deep-cover scoring 39 off 23 balls with four boundaries and two sixers.

BPL standing

Chittagong now have 14 points from 11 matches and they have qualified for the playoffs.

Dhaka have 10 points from as many games and need to win at least one or two more matches to qualify.
