Rony Talukdar became the second Bangladeshi to score a fifty in the sixth edition of the BPL as his side Dhaka Dynamites continued their unbeaten run.

Dhaka beat Sylhet Sixers by 32 runs Saturday at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital city to pick up their fourth win in as many matches.

They are now top of the points table.

Sylhet on the other hand now have two points from three games.

Dhaka consist of some big foreign hitters but their local player Rony, who scored highest 58 off 34 balls batting at No 3, shone most brightly to help his side post 173/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

In pursuit of 174, the Sixers were reduced to 75/7 and the match seemed to be heading towards a one-sided finish.

But the Sixers’ West Indian recruit Nicolas Pooran played a swashbuckling 72-run innings off 47 balls with nine sixes, though it just reduced the margin of their inevitable defeat.

After electing to bat, Dhaka lost their explosive opener Hazratullah Zazai for just four in the fourth ball, but Rony formed a 67-run second-wicket stand with Sunil Narine, who made 25 off 21, to lay a good foundation.

Dhaka skipper Shakib al Hasan scored 23 to leave the side on 117/4 in the 13th over and two Windies power-hitters Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell were expected to make an onslaught in the remaining overs.

But Sylher pacer Taskin Ahmed removed both and Shuvagata Hom in the 15th over to ruin the plan.

However, debutant Mohammad Naim (25) and Nurul Hasan (23) formed an unbroken 48-run stand for the eighth wicket to ensured a formidable score for the league leader.

In reply, the Sylhet top-order collapsed as none of their top four batsmen could reach double figure, and No 5 Sabbir Rahman made just 12 to leave his side on a precarious 37/5.

But Pooran decided to rain in with sixes before top-edging a Rubel Hossain bouncer to be caught at the leg side by man-of-the-match Rony.

Rubel was the pick of the bowlers with figure of 3/22 for Dhaka.
