Bangladesh will take part in the Gulf Cup, an inter-school U-19 international cricket tournament, scheduled to be held in India from January 2-8 2019.

Each game will be 25-overs a side. Students from four different English medium schools, including Scholastica, have formed the team representing Bangladesh under the name SEBD Ban.

They will face Lahore Grammar JT from Pakistan in the first match of the tournament at Eden Gardens, Ajman, UAE on January 2. The tournament will have three more teams, Ajman, Insports Cricket Academy Hyderabad, and Lahore Grammar Def Pakistan where each side will play each other once in a round robin league. The top two teams will take part in the final on January 8. Bangladesh will play their second match against Insports Cricket Academy Hyderabad on January 3 and last match against Lahore Grammar Def Pakistan on January 6.

The coach of the Bangladesh team Mohammad Shiful Islam was looking forward to putting on a good performance and he told the Dhaka Tribune, “We are hopeful of doing well in the group stage so let’s see how far we can go. We’ve worked hard to choose some of the best players from a lot of schools and they are focused on the job at hand.”
