There will be as many as nine Bangladesh players in the IPL T20 auction, scheduled to be held on December 18 this year, but left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman will not be one of them.
With the 2019 World Cup looming on the horizon, the BCB expressed concerns with Mustafizur’s fitness earlier this year.
Cricket’s governing body in the country felt the rigours of a lengthy tournament like the IPL might have a detrimental effect on Mustafizur’s fitness so the BCB stopped short from giving him the No Objection Certificate. As a result, Mustafizur was not included in the players’ list of the upcoming IPL auction.
The southpaw had featured for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 and 2017 before switching to Mumbai Indians in 2018.
