Chasing 326, East Zone needed 255 for a win against Central Zone.
East Zone resumed the chase on 71 for loss of two wickets, and was boosted with Mahmudul Hasan’s 135 and Mohammad Ashraful’s 64.
With three wickets in hand, the side were seven runs away from the win with tail-enders Enamul Haque Jr and Abu Jayed batting on 16 and 14 respectively.
However, after two balls delivered in the 98th over, the match officials called the game off citing bad light.
The East Zone players were infuriated with the decision, but the on-field umpires had every right to call the game off in accordance with the by-laws.
Shahidul Islam picked up three wickets for Central Zone.
