The champion received Tk30,000 while the runners-up got Tk20,000

Bangla Tribune emerged as the champion in the Step-Bangladesh Sports Journalists Community Media Cup Cricket Tournament after beating Channel i by four wickets in the final at the outer field of the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka Friday.

Batting first, Channel i posted 81 runs losing four wickets in six overs, Sajib Das top-scoring with 37 and Rahul Ray making 24. In reply, Bangla Tribune reached their destination with five balls in hand. Bangla Tribune’s Abul was adjudged player of the final for his 43-run knock while Sajib was named player of the tournament.

The champion received Tk30,000 while the runners-up got Tk20,000. The tournament’s best player pocketed Tk3,000 while the player of the final received Tk2,000.

Earlier in the semi-final at the same venue Friday, Channel i beat Dhaka Tribune by four wickets while Bangla Tribune defeated Channel 24 by three wickets.

BCB director Mahbub Anam was present as the chief guest and distributed prizes. Former Bangladesh cricket team captains Khaled Mashud and Mohammad Ashraful and BSJC president Asif Iqbal were also present among others.

A total of 24 teams participated in the tournament.
