Dhaka opener Abdul Mazid and Chittagong opener Sadikur Rahman scored centuries against Sylhet and Dhaka Metro on day two at different venues in the NCL. This was Mazid’s 9th first-class century while it was Sadikur’s second century and both openers put their teams in a solid position in each game.

Sylhet vs Dhaka

Sylhet started the day at 220-6 but quick wickets fell as they took their innings to just 238 runs. In reply Dhaka took the ascendency in the match, thanks mainly to Mazid’s 104 runs before he retired hurt, and finished the day on 236-4. Dhaka are just two runs behind Sylhet’s first innings total and have six wickets in hand.

Dhaka Metro vs Chittagong

Dhaka Metro started the day in a strong position at 265-5 with overnight centurion, their captain Marshall Ayub on 110 but he could not add to that tally and regular wickets from Chittagong meant Metro scored 328 runs in their first innings. Young spinner Nayeem Hasan was the most impressive bowler with 4-98 for Chittagong and their reply with the bat was impressive as they made 196-3 with Sadikur not-out on 100 and a solid 76 from fellow opener Pinak Ghosh.

Barisal vs Rajshahi

In a topsy-turvy low-scoring affair, Barisal will be the happier of the two sides as they lead by 183 runs against Rajshahi. Rajshahi started the day at 124-6, having taken a first innings lead but were bundled out for 160 with Monir Hossain taking 5-14 for Barisal. In reply, thanks to Al-Amin’s 97, Barisal ended the day on 246-6.

Khulna vs Rangpur

Rangpur made a decent reply to Khulna’s 261 runs as they ended the day on 126-4 at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra. Foggy weather and bad light had meant only 68 overs were possible on day one and play was delayed on day two for similar reasons. Khulna started the day at 217-8 but Moinul Islam top scored with 54 and combined with the tail to take the score to a fighting 261.
