Moments, Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe

The moments from day two of the first Test

Update : 04 Nov 2018, 09:14 PM

This time it’s a canine intruder

The ninth of over of the Bangladesh innings was in progress and Nazmul Hossain Shanto was on strike when the motion got interrupted by an intruder – not a human but a stray dog. The ground staff and few of the Zimbabwe players showed the wild canine the way out before it could make to the middle of the ground. The occasion was the second in the ongoing Test between host Bangladesh and visitors Zimbabwe as Sylhet came to a halt due to an uninvited one in the field. Earlier on day one, a child was seen running into the middle and took Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim for a surprise. The kid hugged Mushfiqur tight before the security personals emerged and showed him the way out from the field and then the stadium complex. No legal action was taken against the child considering his tender age.

Oh no Mushfiq

Bangladesh were four down with only 19 runs on the board when wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur walked to the middle. He had changed his batting number having comeback as the wicket-keeper in the format and as the last established batsman in the fold, he had the daunting task to make the home side recover from a debacle. The right-handed batsman was on point, making an effort to slow the action down. He took 12 balls to score his first run in the game – with a boundary off Brandon Mavuta and went onto put 30 runs for the fifth wickets before Mominul Haque perished. Mushfiqur held his nerves as he was joined with Ariful Haque but he broke loose right after the tea. Mushfiqur, right on the first ball of the session struck a four through point but only managed to poke the next ball and get caught behind. The template of hitting a boundary and then immediately losing a wicket remained and at the same time irked many given Mushfiqur could have had made it his day.
