Batsman Taibur Rahman was the top-scorer for Dhaka with 88 while Arafat was the chief destroyer for Dhaka Metro, taking seven wickets for just 57 runs.
Rangpur v Rajshahi
Rajshahi were well and truly on top thanks to their bowlers after skittling a strong Rangpur batting line-up that included Liton Das (17) and previous match’s double-centurion Ariful Haque (five) for just 151 after deciding to field first at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
Bowlers Farhad Reza and Mohor Sheikh took three wickets each while middle-order batsman Naeem Islam top-scored with 60 for Rangpur.
In reply, Rajshahi made an excellent start scoring 99 without losing a wicket with Nazmul Hossan Shanto (37) and Mizanur Rahman (59) set to resume batting on the second day in this tier one match.
Barisal v Khulna
Khulna took wickets regularly against Barisal to keep them at 266/8 after bowling first at Sheikh Abu Naser Cricket Stadium in Khulna.
Veteran spinner Abdur Razzak was the highest wicket-taker on the day with three scalps while Nuruzzaman was the highest scorer for Barisal, not out on 48, and is set to resume batting on the second day in this tier one game.
Chittagong v Sylhet
Backed by the only century of the day from opener Sadikur Rahman (106), Chittagong ended the day on 282/9 against Sylhet after batting first at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar.
Yasir Ali (84) made the only other notable contribution with the bat while Shahanur Rahman was the most successful bowler with three wickets for 58 runs in this tier two match.
