The BCB turned down the NOC citing the fact that Soumya Sarkar needs to play the National Cricket League, while Mohammad Mithun should be properly rested before the national camp for the home series against Zimbabwe, set to start on October 15

Bangladesh cricketers Soumya Sarkar and Mohammad Mithun have been denied the No Objection Certificate for participating in the Afghanistan Premier League T20 in the UAE.

The BCB turned down the NOC citing the fact that Soumya needs to play the National Cricket League, while Mithun should be properly rested before the national camp for the home series against Zimbabwe, set to start on October 15.

Left-handed batsman Soumya and wicketkeeper-batsman Mithun were picked up by APL franchise Kandahar Knights during the players’ draft.

“They were not given NOC for Afghanistan league considering that Bangladesh have a tight schedule, hosting Zimbabwe and West Indies starting this month,” said BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan.

Pacer Taskin Ahmed is the only Bangladesh cricketer participating in the maiden edition of the APL.

According to Akram, Taskin has just recovered from a back injury and his performance in the APL will be taken into consideration.
