Bangladesh women lose as Pakistan claim T20I series

Bangladesh captain Salma Khatun won the toss and elected to bat first

Bangladesh women lost to Pakistan by seven wickets during their third Twenty20 International match losing the series 2-0 at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on Friday.

Bangladesh captain Salma Khatun won the toss and elected to bat first.

Openers Shamima Sultana and Ayasha Rahman made a slow but decent start as the first wicket fell in the last ball of sixth over when the score was 20. Ayasha was run-out scoring 8 runs.

Later, Bangladesh lost regular wickets in the middle-order and could not score quickly either.

Eventually they managed to score 81 runs in their stipulated 20 overs losing eight wickets.

Only three players were able to score in double digits as openers Shamima scored 10, Nigar Sultana scored 19 and Rumana Ahmed scored 12.

Nashra Sandhu and Nida Dar took two wickets for Pakistan conceding 16 runs each.

In reply, Pakistan openers Ayesha Zafar and Nahida Khan made an impressive start as they scored 32 runs in the first power-play.

Rumana made the breakthrough by taking the wicket of Ayesha in the first ball of seventh over. But the other opener Nahida scored 33 off just 40 balls to guide her team close to their target.

Captain Javeria Khan also scored an unbeaten 31. Nahida was adjudged player of the match.

Rumana and Fahima took one wicket for Bangladesh.

Paksitan are leading the seires 2-0. The first T20I was washed out and the fourth and final match of the T20I series will be played at the same venue on Saturday.
