Abul Hasan will join the Tigers Friday with the series set to begin Sunday at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun
Right-arm pacer Abul Hasan has been named as the replacement for the injured pacer Mustafizur Rahman for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. The BCB through a media release Wednesday declared that Abul would join the Bangladesh squad in Dehradun, India.
Abul will join the Tigers Friday with the series set to begin Sunday at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun. Abul last appeared for Bangladesh in an ODI against Sri Lanka during the tri-nation series in January this year.
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur was ruled out of the tour after picking up an injury in his left foot during his last game for IPL T20 franchise Mumbai Indians on May 20 this year. Mustafizur returned home following his tenure in the IPL and had complained of pain in his left toe.
It is understood that Bangladesh team physio Thihan Chandramohan had made the primary assessment on the injury. He had advised Mustafizur to undergo primary treatment, thinking the injury to be a minor one. Bangladesh’s interim head coach for the Afghanistan T20Is, Courtney Walsh had expressed concern over Mustafizur’s injury Sunday, which suggested that the team management was aware of the injury.
Mustafizur informed the team of unbearable pain a night before the team’s departure for India, following which the Bangladesh bowler was sent for x-ray and the reports showed that he is carrying a hair-line fracture in his left toe.
