The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed Courtney Walsh as the head coach for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Dehradun, India.

West Indies fast bowling legend Walsh had performed the same role during the Nidahas T20I tri-nation series in Sri Lanka in March this year.

The Tigers' head coach's post has been vacant ever since Chandika Hathurusingha resigned in November last year.

The Tigers are scheduled to leave for Dehradun Tuesday to play three T20Is against the Afghans on June 3, 5 and 7 respectively.

The 55-year old Walsh was earlier appointed Bangladesh pace bowling coach in August, 2016.
