Shakib al Hasan was supposed to play along with Bangladesh teammate Tamim Iqbal
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan will not participate in the exhibition match for the ICC World XI against the West Indies at Lord’s on May 31 this year due to personal reason, confirmed the ICC in its website.
Shakib was supposed to play along with Bangladesh teammate Tamim Iqbal. The match is being organised to raise funds for stadias in the Caribbean which were damaged due to hurricanes last year. The ICC has already accredited the game as T20I status.
Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, Pakistan all-rounders Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik and all-rounder Thisara Perera of Sri Lanka have confirmed their participation while England’s Eoin Morgan will be captaining the side.
The ICC has also confirmed that it has included Nepal wrist-spinner and young sensation Sandeep Lamichhane in the side.
Shakib is currently playing in the IPL T20 for franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. Bangladesh will play three T20Is in Dehradun, India against Afghanistan in the first week of June. Shakib is the captain of the Tigers’ Test and T20I sides.
