T20 tournament for locals scrapped this season
During the last edition of the BPL T20, the BCB expressed its desire to hold a T20 tournament this season for the local players only. Many felt that due to the presence of the foreign cricketers in the starting XI of the respective franchises, talented local players were denied the opportunity to showcase their skills in the premier domestic T20 competition of the country. The BPL governing council therefore brought up the idea of organising a T20 tournament for the local players only.

Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis chairman Kazi Inam Ahmed however, informed that the T20 tournament will not be held this season owing to time constraint. Inam, also a BCB director, said, “The T20 tournament will not be held this season due to time constraint. The monsoon season is here, along with Ramadan. We will organise the T20 tournament next season. Obviously we want to hold the tournament within the next four years.”
