Islami Bank East Zone made a strong reply against BCB North Zone as the former finished day two on 110 runs without losing any wicket in 27 overs at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Wednesday.
In the other Bangladesh Cricket League fifth round match of the day, Prime Bank South Zone scored 50 for the loss of one wicket in 19 overs in their second innings, replying to Walton Central Zone’s first-innings tally of 302 in 88.3 overs at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Cricket Stadium in Rajshahi.
East Zone v North Zone
Having resumed the day on 204/5 in 65 overs, North Zone eventually scored 415 before losing all of their wickets in 122.4 overs in the first innings. Skipper Jahurul Islam and middle-order batsman Ariful Haque both scored centuries for North Zone. Jahurul scored 113 with a dozen boundaries while Ariful made 101 with seven fours and a six. Off-spinner Sohag Gazi took four wickets for East Zone.
In reply, East Zone openers Liton Das and Tasamul Haque got their side off to a solid start as both finished day two unbeaten. Liton was batting on 52 while Tasamul was undefeated on 49.
South Zone v Central Zone
Central Zone were all out for 302, thus taking a 111-run first-innings lead against South Zone. Opener Shadman Islam was the top-scorer for Central Zone with 93 while wicketkeeper-batsman Irfan Sukkur scored 54. Veteran left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak bagged yet another five-wicket haul as he took six wickets conceding 106 runs in 31 overs, including five maidens.
In reply, South Zone finished day two on 50, losing the wicket of opener Fazle Mahmud. Opener Anamul Haque was unbeaten on 31 while Imrul Kayes was batting on 10 at stumps.
