Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has been ruled out of action for at least a week following a left-ankle sprain picked up during the fourth and final day of round four of the Bangladesh Cricket League.
Mushfiq playing football during the warm-up session Friday collided with his BCB North Zone team mate Nazmul Hossain Shanto and incurred the injury.
Chief BCB physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury informed Dhaka Tribune yesterday that the former Bangladesh captain will take at least seven days to recover fully.
“He has suffered a left-ankle sprain during warm-up Friday. We are hoping for him to get better in a week but this can also take longer. At this point we are looking to assess the recovery in a week’s time,” said Dr Debashish.
Mushfiq due to the injury will not be able to play the fifth and penultimate round of the BCL starting today, and is also likely to miss the sixth and final round of the franchise-based domestic league.
