The 11th ULAB Fair Play Cup Cricket Tournament got underway at the permanent campus of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh at Mohammadpur in Dhaka with a minute’s silence for the tragic loss of lives in the US-Bangla Airlines accident in Nepal.
Professor Dr. M Shah Nowaz Ali, member, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh delivered his speech as the chief guest. Juditha Ohlmacher, member, ULAB board of trustees also spoke during the occasion. Professor Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, treasurer, ULAB, declared the tournament open. Professor Akhtar Ahmed, registrar, ULAB, was also present.
In the tournament opener, ULAB, batting first, posted 190 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs against Green University Bangladesh, and the host went on to win by 47 runs. Noman Jeko of ULAB scored 70 from 48 balls while GUB’s Aukatul Islam made 44 from 35 deliveries.
A total of 12 universities are taking part in the tournament – North South University, BRAC University, Southeast University, Daffodil International University, Prime University, GUB, European University of Bangladesh, Independent University Bangladesh, Stamford University Bangladesh, Bangladesh University, Uttara University and host ULAB.
