Bangladesh T20I captain Shakib al Hasan has been added to the squad for the Nidahas T20I tri-nation series after recovering from an injury to his left little finger, informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board through a press release Thursday afternoon.
The media release stated Shakib has recovered fully from his injury.
Shakib was ruled out of action after he injured his left little finger during the final of the ODI tri-series, against Sri Lanka in January this year. The injury put the left-arm all-rounder out from the two-match Test and T20I home series' against Sri Lanka which concluded last month.
Bangladesh have played three T20Is in the series so far and won one among them. Bangladesh will face host Sri Lanka Friday and the winner of this match will face India in the final.
Shakib is expected to join the team in Colombo Thursday
afternoon, according to the press release.
“As you know, Shakib had a sensitive injury, so we sent him to Australia for analysing his injury situation. After receiving treatment Shakib came back to the country and took part in light training session. Later, Australian doctor gave advice to our medical team that Shakib is feeling comfortable and can play now. We are hoping Shakib can play the next match,” said BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury to the media.
