19-year old pacer Yeasin smashes record books
Holder Gazi Group Cricketers' Yeasin Arafat Meshu smashed the List A record in the history of Bangladesh cricket when he took eight wickets conceding 40 runs in 8.1 overs against powerhouse Abahani Limited during their Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2017-18 season match at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Cricket Stadium in Fatullah Wednesday. Due to Yeasin’s splendid performance, Abahani were all out for just 113 runs and Gazi Group eventually won by eight wickets. Yeasin is the first Bangladeshi in history to take eight wickets in an innings in List A cricket, surpassing Abdur Razzak’s previous record of 7/17 against Zimbabwe A in the 2003-04 season. Yeasin, the right-arm 19-year old fast bowler, played his third match of the season for Gazi Group and entered his name into the record book. This is the 11th time a bowler took eight wickets in a List A match in the history of the game. Yeasin’s 8/40 can be listed as eighth best in that list. The pacer took the wickets of Saif Hasan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Nasir Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain, Manan Sharma, Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Sanjamul Islam and Ariful Islam Sobuj Wednesday. Yeasin has played three first-class matches so far in his career, making his debut on September 25, 2016 for Chittagong.
