Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity Wednesday picked up a 15-run win over Kalabagan Krira Chakra to register their third victory of the season in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2017-18 season.
Prime Bank Cricket Club registered a 42-run victory against Agrani Bank Cricket Club to record their second win of the competition in six matches so far.
In the third game of the day, Shinepukur Cricket Club captain Shuvagata Hom’s century went in vain as they lost to Brothers Union by five wickets.
At the end of round six, unbeaten Abahani Limited are at the top of the points table with 12 points, followed by Legends of Rupganj and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, who both have eight points each.
Khelaghar v Kalabagan
Inspired by Ashok Menaria’s 95-run innings and a combined bowling effort, Khelaghar posted a scintillating win at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
Asked to bat first, Khelaghar put up 238 on the board before getting all out in the last ball of the innings. Menaria struck a 98-ball 95 with seven boundaries and four boundaries while Amit Majumder added 42 to the tally. Rahatul Ferdous bagged three wickets for Kalabagan.
Defending the target, Khelaghar was spot on, dismissing five Kalabagan batsmen with only 14 on the board in 5 overs. The side recovered from the debacle with Taibur Rahman’s 81 and 76 from Abul Hasan but they still fell short by 15 runs, having scored 223 losing nine wickets in their stipulated 50 overs. Hasan Mahmud topped the Khelaghar bowling attack with three scalps.
Prime Bank v Agrani Bank
Prime Bank finally broke their losing streak at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Agrani Bank elected to bowl and saw Prime Bank ride on two half-centuries to put 272 for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 50 overs. The two openers - Mehedi Maruf and Mehrab Hossain Jr - added 54 and 52 respectively.
Later, Rubel Hossain and Delwar Hossain took three wickets apiece for Prime Bank as Agrani Bank were dismissed for 230 in 46.5 overs. Jahid Javed was unbeaten on 48 while Raza Ali Dar added 42 to the chase.
Shinepukur v Brothers
Mysukur Rahman’s 88 and Debabrata Das’ 75 inspired Brothers to victory at BKSP. Chasing 289, Brothers reached the shore in 49.1 overs losing five wickets. Yasir Ali Chowdhury was unbeaten on 45 off 34 deliveries with two fours and as many sixes.
The defeat however, sidelined Shuvagata’s 116-run knock. His 98-ball knock featured a dozen fours and four sixes as Agrani Bank put up a fighting total. Afif Hossain added a 77-ball 68 to the total. Sohrawardi Shuvo bagged three wickets for Brothers.
