The BCB spent a total of Tk 1,207.3 crore from its funds for organising events in the country in the last eight fiscal years.
“The government does not allocate money in favour of the BCB for holding its events round the year,” State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder said in the Jatiya Sangsad, while replying to a question from treasury bench member Nazrul Islam Babu of Narayanganj 2 constituency Monday.
He said the BCB holds cricket programmes with its own funds.
The State Minister informed the parliament that the BCB spent Tk 104.03 crore for conducting programmes in the 2009-10 FY and Tk 139.48 crore in the 2010-11 FY.
Tk 129.82 crore was spent in FY 2011-12, Tk 101.01 crore in FY 2012-13, Tk 156.82 crore in FY 2013-14, Tk 229.76 in FY 2014-15, Tk 165.22 crore in FY 2015-16 and Tk 181.16 crore in FY 2016-17, Biren added.
