BCB North Zone registered a comfortable victory over Walton Central Zone in their 6th Bangladesh Cricket League four-day match at Sylhet International Stadium Friday. The other game between Prime Bank South Zone and Islami Bank East Zone at BKSP 4 ground in Savar ended in a draw. North Zone v Central Zone North Zone reached their 70-run target within 12.1 overs losing just one wicket. Youngster Nazmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten on 31 while chasing. Earlier, Central Zone pushed to the backfoot in the very first day after being bowled for just 188. In reply, North Zone posted a strong total, scoring 457 losing nine wickets in their first innings. Skipper Jahurul Islam blasted a magnificent 158 while wicketkeeper-batsman Dhiman Ghosh made 93. In their second innings, Central Zone performed better with the bat as they registered 336. Middle-order batsman Raqibul Hasan scored 105 while captain Mosharraf Hossain made 61 in the late order. But the target was too small for North Zone as they clinched a nine-wicket victory in the end. North Zone’s Jahurul was adjudged man of the match for his superb century in the first innings.

South Zone v East Zone In the other game of the day, East Zone scored 93 for the loss of four wickets in their second innings on day four and in the end, the match ended in a draw. Stumper-batsman Liton Kumar Das was batting on 51 for East Zone. South Zone made a commanding start to the game and posted a huge total of 546 in their first innings. Top-order batsman Mominul Haque smashed a magnificent 258 while youngster Zakir Hasan hammered 119. In reply, South Zone also batted well as middle-order pair Tushar Imran and Mosaddek Hossain both scored centuries. This is the 25th first class century for Tushar. And Mosaddek’s century was also crucial as he has been struggling with eye infection in the last few months and was later dropped from the national team. Veteran spinner Abdur Razzak took nine wickets overall, six in the first innings and three in the second, for East Zone. Mominul was named man of the match for his double ton.
