Islami Bank East Zone made a strong start, posting 340 runs for the loss of five wickets, riding on Mominul Haque’s unbeaten 169-run innings against Prime Bank South Zone, during the first match of the sixth edition of the Bangladesh Cricket League at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan in Savar Tuesday.
In the other game, BCB North Zone are batting on 93 for no loss after dismissing Walton Central Zone for 188 at Sylhet International Stadium.
East Zone v South Zone
East Zone finished day one on 340/5 with No 3 batsman Mominul playing a brilliant undefeated 207-ball 169, including 18 fours and a couple of sixes. Youngster Zakir Hasan was batting on 47 at the other end with Mominul when stumps were drawn. The experienced Imtiaz Hossain chipped in with 33. Veteran spinner Abdur Razzak took two wickets for South Zone.
North Zone v Central Zone
Central Zone were all out for 188 in their first innings. Wicket-keeper Irfan Sukkur made 57 while left-handed batsman Mehrab Hossain Jr scored 27. North Zone’s Ariful Haque bagged while pace bowling duo Shafiul Islam and Subashish Roy took two wickets each. In reply, North Zone scored 93 without loss after day one as both the openers Nazmul Hossain (42) and Mizanur Rahman (49) remained not out in the end.
