Holder Dhaka Dynamites swept into the grand finale of BPL 2017 following their convincing 95-run win over Comilla Victorians in Qualifier 1 at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Friday.
Batting first, Dhaka posted a commanding 191 for the loss of seven wickets in their stipulated 20 overs, opener Evin Lewis top-scoring with a 32-ball 47, featuring half a dozen fours and three sixes.
There were also vital contributions from No 3 batsman Joe Denly (32 off 25 balls), the West Indies’ Kieron Pollard (31 off 18 balls) and Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi (30 off 19 balls).
Comilla seamer Hasan Ali was the only bright spot for the Victorians in what was a disappointing bowling performance.
Hasan bagged three wickets conceding just 16 runs from his quota of four overs.
Medium-pacer Dwayne Bravo took two wickets but proved to be expensive, leaking 45 runs from his allotted four overs.
In reply, Comilla folded for just 96 in 18 overs, only opener Tamim Iqbal (31 off 28 balls), Hasan (18 off 16 balls) and youngster Mahedi Hasan (15 off 15 balls) reaching double digit.
Player of the match Afridi, captain Shakib al Hasan and youngster Mosaddek Hossain shared seven wickets between themselves.
Comilla will now play Rangpur Riders in Qualifier 2 Sunday at the home of cricket in Mirpur for a place in the final against Dhaka, scheduled for Tuesday.
