
Holder Dhaka Dynamites moved one step closer to the BPL 2017 playoffs after thumping Rajshahi Kings by 99 runs at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Saturday.
Batting first, Dhaka posted a commanding 205 for the loss of five wickets in their stipulated 20 overs, opener Sunil Narine top-scoring with a brisk 69 off just 34 balls, including four fours and half a dozen sixes.
Narine received valuable support from the other opener Joe Denly, who scored 53 off 54 deliveries, featuring four boundaries and a couple of sixers.
Together, the opening wicket partnership of Narine and Denly put on 129 to take Dhaka on the verge of a huge total.
Later, the big-hitting Kieron Pollard blasted 33 off just 14 balls, composed with one four and four sixes, as Dhaka eventually crossed the 200-mark.
Rajshahi youngster Qazi Onik bagged two wickets.
In reply, Rajshahi folded for just 106 in 18.3 overs, Dhaka captain Shakib al Hasan bagging four miserly wickets conceding only eight runs from his quota of four overs.
Dhaka spinners Mosaddek Hossain and Shadman Islam chipped in with two wickets each.
Rajshahi's England recruit Samit Patel scored the highest 28 for his side, his 17-ball innings including two boundaries and as many over boundaries.
Second placed Dhaka now have 13 points from 11 matches while Rajshahi are fifth with eight points from 11 games.
