Rangpur edge Dhaka in thriller

Rangpur Riders edged holder Dhaka Dynamites by three runs in a BPL 2017 thriller at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Tuesday. Chasing 143 for victory, Dhaka were bundled out for 139 in their allotted 20 overs, just falling short after a brilliant last over by Sri Lanka’s Thisara Perera, who finished with bowling figure of 2/37 from his quota of four overs. Alongside Perera, captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza, spinner Sohag Gazi and pacer Rubel Hossain also bagged two wickets each. Wicketkeeper-batsman Jahurul Islam was the highest scorer for Dhaka with a 19-ball 29.Earlier, Rangpur, asked to bat first, posted 142 before losing all of their wickets in 19.5 overs, opener Chris Gayle top-scoring for his side with a 28-ball 51, featuring five fours and four sixes. Gayle was adjudged player of the match for the second game in a row. Dhaka captain Shakib al Hasan finished with magical bowling figure of 5/16 – the third best in the history of the BPL.
