Bangladesh U19s continue winning streak, thump Malaysia by 262 runs
Bangladesh continued their winning streak in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup as they thrashed host Malaysia by a huge margin of 262 runs in Kuala Lumpur Monday. The junior Tigers posted a commanding 335 for the loss of six wickets in their stipulated 50 overs, Towhid Hridoy top-scoring with a run-a-ball 120. Saif Hasan chipped in with 90 runs of his own. Bangladesh were in early trouble, losing their second wicket with the scoreboard reading 36. But skipper Saif and Hridoy added 192 for the third wicket to take the youngsters in red and green to a big total. In reply, the home side managed just 73 losing eight wickets in their allotted 50 overs, Shakhawat Hossain taking the highest three wickets for the visiting side. Afif Hossain and Saif shared three wickets between themselves. Earlier Saturday, Bangladesh opened their campaign against Nepal with a two-wicket victory (D/L method) at the same venue. The junior Tigers will face India in their last round robin game Tuesday. The match begins at 7:30am, Bangladesh standard time.
