Poor outfield in Paarl ahead of second ODI
The outfield at Boland Park in Paarl looked below-par on the eve of the second ODI between visiting Bangladesh and host South Africa Tuesday. The outfield at the corner of the ground was looking very dangerous for playing as there was no grass and black soil was coming out. It has been raining in the hillside area of Paarl for the last few days and that made the ground a bit slippery. The players might get injured if the outfield remains the same in today’s second ODI. The groundsmen have very little time to prepare the ground as around 15 hours remain till the start of the game when this report was filed. Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha and fielding and assistant coach Richard Halsall entered the ground at around 2pm to have a look. They were not looking satisfied and later, they talked with the goundsmen. Later, Bangladesh team went for indoor nets session and did not participate in warm-up or fielding drill. Six players took part in the optional practice session on the eve of their second ODI. They are opener Tamim Iqbal, batsmen Mominul Haque and Soumya Sarkar, all-rounder Saifuddin, youngster Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim.
