Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has added another feather to his cap, becoming the fastest player to join the 5000-run and 200-wicket club in ODIs.
Shakib reached the 5000-run landmark when he crossed 17 against host South Africa during the first ODI at De Beers Diamond Oval Sunday.
The 30-year old, who now has 5012 runs and 224 wickets to his credit in ODIs, took 178 matches to reach the milestone.
Apart from Shakib, Pakistan's Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzak, South Africa great Jacques Kallis and Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya also achieved the landmark.
Kallis, Jayasuriya, Afridi and Razzak contested 221, 235, 239 and 258 matches respectively to reach the milestone.
Shakib is the second Bangladesh batsman, after opener Tamim Iqbal (5743), to cross 5000 ODI runs.
