Rain hampers NCL third round
None of the teams in the two tiers were able to find a win as round three of the 19th National Cricket League (NCL) ended Monday. At end of the round, Khulna are on top of the tier 1 points table with a victory and 12 points, followed by Dhaka and Rangpur with six points each. In tier 2, Rajshahi are leading the table with one win and 12 points, followed by Chittagong and Dhaka Metropolis with six points each. The game ended in a draw at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna after Dhaka Metro captain Marshall Ayub registered his maiden century of the season. With the ball, Rajshahi left-arm spinner Sanjamul Islam starred with his 12th five-wicket haul in the format, as the game only saw a little more than two innings of action. Dhaka resumed their first innings on the final day of the tie and stretched their score from 106 runs for the loss of three wickets to 329/9 declared, riding on Marshall’s 131-run innings.
