The second edition of the Masters Cricket Carnival is likely to be highlighted with the participation of current national cricket stars through an exhibition match.
The 18-over-a-side tournament, with the participation of former Bangladesh cricketers, is set to start from Wednesday in Cox’s Bazar's Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium.
With interest shown by both the former and current cricketers and in order to add hype to the tournament, the organisers are mulling hosting an exhibition match between the current and the former players.
Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah and the others will participate in the game but much will depend on the availability of these cricketers, who are currently busy with the national camp in Mirpur.
Initially, the current cricketers had planned owning a side in the tournament but that never developed given the tight schedule of the cricketers since last year.
The friendly is still being discussed but the stage is all set for the second season of the Masters Carnival.
The players’ draft will be held on Saturday at the BCB media centre.
With the participation of six sides divided into two groups, the final of the four-day long tournament will also be held in Cox’s Bazar on July 29.
Led by Habibul Bashar, defending champion Gemcon Khulna Masters, now known as Titans Khulna Masters, Chittagong Ispahani Masters led by Akram Khan, Acme Rajshahi led by Khaled Mashud, Expo All Stars led by Hasibul Hossain Shanto, Raw National Dhaka Metropolis led by Khaled Mahmud and Bashundhara Dhaka division led by Naimur Rahman are the six participating teams in the tournament.
